Hey, everybody Chad Penzo-Thacker here, a residential broker with the Mark Buckner Group at Compass. I'm coming to you from the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago and pointing out some of the most exciting parts of this area.

Lakeview is actually Chicago's second most populated neighborhood with a population of over 100,000 residents. To put that into a little bit of perspective for you. If Lakeview was its own city and my home state of Kentucky, it would be the third-largest city in the state today.

We visited the Southport corridor, accessible via The Brown Line, and known for its many restaurants and shops.

Newport Avenue in Northalsted is a subsection of the Lakeview neighborhood on the west side. It’s got a great housing stock made up of popular greystones, built in the city between 1890 and 1930 and recognizeable by their grey limestone facade.

Northalsted is in an area that was formally known as Boystown. It’s one of the most lively sections of Lakeview. This neighborhood has the unique distinction of being the first recognized gay village in the United States, under former mayor Dailey. It’s still home to a very sizable gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender population. In fact, one of the largest in the Midwest. Every June it’s also home to one of the largest Pride festivals in the Midwest.

Sports fans will recognize the Lakeview area by one of the most famous spots in all of baseball, Wrigley Field. The sub-neighborhood within Lakeview - Wrigleyville sprung up around the landmark field that built in 1914.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Lakeview neighborhood and its many communities, or you’re looking to buy or sell in the area, please reach out to me, Chad Penzo-Thacker. I’m an expert on the area, and I’m ready to help you find your place in Chicago.
